why joysacks?
According to the eco and sustainability pros at Brightly, 2.3 million pounds of wrapping paper end up in landfills each year. While it’s awesome that major wrapping paper companies have been rolling out more eco-friendly paper and bags; many commercial gift wraps contain plastics, glitter and other non-recyclable elements that, when tossed in with the recyclable kind, can contaminate the entire batch of paper and send it all to the same landfill. The guidelines on what can be safely recycled are specific and totally effective in sustainability, but perhaps not top of mind when cleaning up after a day of enthusiastic gift opening. If you’re an avid recycler but also a parent who is often overwhelmed and looking for a quick and simple way to move through holidays and special occasions with grace, gratefulness and a positive attitude– you could use any help you can get! That’s where JoySacks really shines as a celebration simplifier.
The thrill and drama of opening these fun drawstring bags themselves, the convenience of easy and small-space storing when it's time to pack it all away– so many solutions found in one sustainable, beautiful and joyful product.

Each bag is made by hand out of cotton or cotton-poly blend fabric and will last for many years! JoySacks are completely machine washable. We suggest tying our soft cotton drawstrings in a big floppy bow for the occasional machine wash and air dry to avoid tangling. JoySacks are made in New York by one busy mother of two. This store will occasionally "go dark" while inventory is being made and restocked. Check back often, and follow JoySacks on Instagram at @joysacks.store for restocking updates!

JoySacks feature a double layer/lined design to ensure contents remain totally hidden. The clear vinyl window (our best option for right now while we research biodegradable options) and 2-3 included recyclable gift tags allow for personalizing your gifts! Used up your gift tags? Purchase more here or get creative by making your own!
When you feel it's time to retire your JoySacks, please consider sending them off in a Take Back Bag or Retold Bag; or to any textile recycling company.
